MAY 2013

  Jelson private AC Newsletter

1. As always note legal requirements (Rod Licences) and (Permits to Fish) remain the responsibility of each individual angler. (REMEMBER It is a criminal offence to not have the above). The E.A is still talking about the responsibility soon falling on fishing clubs to make sure members have licences. If they push it through it will cause a lot of extra work for clubs (Please note we still have an E.A Bailiff in the club. So MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOT ONE!

 2. At the AGM it was proposed and passed that Meynall Carp Anglers fish Meynall only and Kirby Lake Anglers fish Kirby only. Remember books for each lake will be a different colour so don't get caught using the wrong water. It could cost you membership of Jelson AC. Course anglers or NODDIES as we are called, fishing for Bream, Roach, Tench, Perch, Chub and etc., may fish all Jelson waters.

3. The following were added to Meynall large lake in 2013 Mirror Carp 17.5lbs.,14.3lbs.,14.7lbs.,9.12lbs. Common Carp12.6lbs.,11.9lbs.,11.7lbs.,10.9lbs and 10.6lbs. Plus seven more Common Carp between 7 and 10lbs. During April 50 small Grass carp will be introduced to Meynall large lake and 50 into the small lake. I will also be adding 3 to 400 lbs of mixed silver fish into Meynall small lake at the end of April.

4.This season produced Bream of 10.7 and 9.5lbs, Tench of 6.11 and 6.14lbs,Perch of 2.5lbs. ,Rudd of 1.13lbs and Chub to 5.8lbs. A number of Carp anglers reported fish well over 20lbs, and lost a few bigger fish, possibly 30lbs plus.( They have been seen but not caught)

5. I now have a full list of Night anglers for Meynell, and a waiting list, so send renewals back as soon as possible. REMEMBER FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED (GATE LOCK CHANGES 1st JUNE).

6.As last year the gate is locked ( for your security and to keep out morons. Do not give the number out to your friends. If I or any of the committee members or bailiffs catch non members opening the gate I will not be very amused.

7.Please remember, any transfers of fish from Meynall Large Lake i.e 2-4lb Bream or Tench,to the small lake, please ring me to let me know. It saves us noddies from buying fish for the small lake.

8.Please do your best to keep the banks in good condition, high water levels have left some areas very boggy.

9.As before, when night fishing, use common sense (Note Rules 4, 13 and 17) We seem to have stopped the drug taking problems as the police have reported no problems with drug takers around the lake last season.

10.Two 24hr carp matches will be run on Meynall Large Lake,Miggy, our young bailiff will be organising them. Both must be booked. Please ring him as soon as possible on 07724460164. Dates will be in your new membership book.

11.Course anglers will be on the small lake and at Fishpools and possibly Birstall. See book for details.

12. Note Dates in book when  Kirby lake will be closed for Course anglers due to 24 hr and 36 hr matches by Kirby Carp Syndicate.

13. As last year the only contact with the EA is made by myself otherwise you forfeit your membership!

14.Standard membership books will be  a  different colour to night fishing books, and Carp Syndicate books so if you are caught with the incorrect book at the wrong venue there will be no excuse.

15.As I say every year we are not a commercial fishery, we cannot afford to stock 4 or 5 times a year (but we do our best), as per this season) We provide a good environment for local anglers with plenty of wildlife and a club that is run with common sense. We try not to treat our members as idiots (UNLESS THEY PROVE OTHERWISE!).

16.Thank you for being a member of Jelson Private AC, we will do our best to further improve our waters and any sensible suggestions will be welcome.

17.Once again, any complaints, ring me on 0116 266911 or e-mail me at bobkat01@tiscali.co.uk or on my bloody mobile. All will be in the book!

GOOD FISHING
BOB FOSSEY
